Vast Majority of Icelanders Give Christmas Gifts

Over 98 percent of Icelanders give presents at Christmastime, have Christmas trees and decorate their homes, according to the latest Gallup poll on the habits of Icelanders at Christmastime.

Children are more likely than adults to set up Christmas decorations as well as bake and decorate Christmas cookies. The older generation, however, is more likely to eat skate and go to church, ruv.is reports.

Around 90 percent of Icelanders have some sort of Christmas tree, one third a real one, the poll found.

Cooking Christmas dinner is a family affair with three of every four respondents taking part in some way in the preparations.
