Value of Fishing Catch Increases by 13.7 Percent

The total value of catch of Icelandic vessels increased by ISK 950,000 from ISK 84.1 billion (USD 659 million, EUR 511 million) to ISK 95.6 billion (USD 750 million, EUR 581 million) in the first seven months of this year when compared to the year prior. The increase amounts to 13.7 percent.

According to the latest data from Statistics Iceland, cod catch accounted for the largest amount among demersal species, followed by redfish and haddock.

In total, demersal species accounted for ISK 58.9 billion (USD 462 million, EUR 358 million), pelagic species ISK 25.4 billion (USD 200 million, EUR 154 million) and flatfish catches ISK 7.23 billion (USD 56.7 million, EUR 44 million).
