A new type of bank, branded Valhalla Bank, opened this week in the mall Glerártorg in Akureyri in north Iceland. The space will host performances that are some kind of a cross between plays and performance art.
The first two shows took place on April 2 and 3 and the last will be staged on April 11, as stated in a press release. They are organized by the artistic group Samlist, which was established by unemployed locals who were eager to do something constructive with their time.
Tickets cost ISK 1,500 (USD 13, EUR 9) and are sold at Glerártorg and by phone (Tel: +354-848-0430). Domestic airline Air Iceland offers a two-for-one discount between April 1 and 11 for those who are eager to see the show but are based elsewhere in Iceland.
