The travel and outdoor activity store Everest in Reykjavík shopping district Skeifan has begun selling used bicycles—a welcome novelty. Used bikes are accepted as part of payment for new ones, checked at the repair shop and then resold.

“We did it with the skis last winter. It was very popular so we decided to try it with the bikes too,” Everest’s owner, Heidar Ingi Ágústsson, told Fréttabladid.
“We can hardly cope with demand even though the bicycle season is just about to begin,” Ágústsson said, adding that children’s bicycles are the most sought-after because children outgrow their bikes so quickly.
