US Secretary of State to Visit Iceland

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will visit Iceland and meet with Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson, Iceland’s Foreign Minister, on February 15, RÚV reports. The officials will discuss North Atlantic relations and security issues, Iceland’s chairing of the Arctic Council, and strengthening business relations between the two countries.

Mike and Guðlaugur have met in Washington before when they also discussed matters related to security, the Arctic Council, the Nordic region. Mike’s current visit is part of a short trip to Europe, during which he will also meet with officials in Hungary, Poland, and Belgium.
