US Laxness Scholar to Teach Class on Iceland

By Iceland Review

Halldór Laxness scholar Chay Lemoine is going to teach a class on Iceland this summer for Continuing Education at Lewis and Clark Community College in Edwardsville, Illinois.

The class will explore Icelandic culture though Icelandic film, music and food along with readings from the Eddas, Sagas and, of course, Halldór Laxness.

Lemoine told icelandreview.com that, “There is so much misinformation on Iceland and in some cases no information at all that I would like to both dispel and create myths. I plan on having a bottle of Lýsi [cod liver oil] on hand as well as information on places to see when visiting Iceland.”

The class will be held from 6 pm to 9 pm every Thursday night in June. The only requirements for enrolling in the class are an interest in Iceland and the enrollment fee. For further information email: [email protected].

Chay Lemoine’s efforts to gain access to FBI documents on Iceland’s Nobel laureate Laxness have made the headlines in the local media on a few occasions.
