US Beats Iceland in Algarve Cup

The US beat Iceland 1-0 in the Algarve Cup in women’s football in Portugal on Friday. Iceland fought heroically the entire game and came close to a draw with the US, the current Olympic champion and the world’s strongest team in women’s football.

The game’s only goal was scored by Natasha Kai in the 90th minute, visir.is reports.

Iceland plays Denmark today, which is at the bottom of qualifying group B with no points after losses against the US and Norway, according to fotbolti.net.

The US is at the top with six points, Iceland in second place with three and Norway in third place, also with three points. Iceland beat Norway in an historic game on Wednesday.
