Unusual Concert Series Kicks Off in Reykjavík

An unusual concert series begins at Fríkirkjan church near the pond in central Reykjavík today at 12:15 pm. None of the performers have been presented and the music they will perform remains unknown as well.

“In summer I kept thinking about the situation in Iceland and wondering what we musicians could do. Then I thought that it would be fun to organize a concert series where it didn’t matter who would be singing or playing—the only thing that mattered was the music,” explained pianist Gerrit Schuil, who organizes the concerts, to Morgunbladid.

“I promise one thing, though, all of our best musicians will perform; people who I have worked with through the years,” Schuil added. The concert series is entitled “Ljádu okkur eyra” (“Lend us your ear”) and admission is free. Concerts will take place every Wednesday until the end of this year.
