In addition to crew members, 190 passengers were on board. No one was injured.

A large emergency operation was swiftly set in motion as the jet’s pilot requested an emergency landing at Keflavik Airport. The jet landed safely.

The passengers spent the night in a hotel. Another jet from the airline arrived this morning to transport them to Chicago.

It is believed that the smoke originated from a converter.

According to visir.is, referring to a Chicago ABC7-news website, the passengers were told to prepare for an emergency landing.
