A total of 10,500 people out of 181,900 in the labor force in Iceland were unemployed and in active job search during the first three months of this year. The unemployment rate measured 5 percent among women and 6.5 among men, which is similar to the first quarter of 2013, according to Statistics Iceland.
Around 1,700 people or 0.9 percent of the workforce were registered as being unemployed long-term (12 months or longer) during the first three months of this year compared to 1.4 percent during the same period last year.
The number of employed people totaled 171,400.
