There are just two women among Iceland’s highest earning CEOs: Rannveig Rist of Rio Tinto Alcan in Iceland and Guðbjörg Edda Eggertsdóttir of Actavis, according to business magazine Frjáls verslun’s special salary issue Tekjublaðið, out yesterday, ruv.is reports.

The salary of Árni Sigfússon, mayor of Reykjanesbær, Southwest Iceland, was higher than that of Iceland’s former prime minister, Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir in 2012. Árni earned ISK 1.9 million (USD 15,000, EUR 11,900) per month, compared to Jóhanna’s monthly salary of ISK 1.5 million, ruv.is reports.
Cross Fit athlete Annie Mist Þórisdóttir was the highest-earning athlete in 2012 with a monthly salary of ISK 2.4 million. Annie Mist came first in the CrossFit Games in both 2011 and 2012.
In 2011, she won USD 250,000 (USD 29 million) in prize money at the games.
Editor of Morgunblaðið, Davíð Oddsson, was the highest earning individual within the media industry with ISK 2.5 million per month.
The annual salary issueof Frjáls verslun lists the salaries of approximately 3,000 well known Icelanders, including the salaries of the directors of the country’s largest companies.
This is the 25th year that Frjáls verslun lists the salaries of individuals based on tax assessment files that have been made public by the Directorate of Inland Revenue.
