The exhibitions “Paintings” by Thorri Hringsson and “Hinterland” by Jóhannes Dagsson will be on display in the ASÍ Art Museum in Reykjavík in January. Both exhibitions open today and run through January 31.
From “Paintings.”
Hringsson studied at the Icelandic School of Arts and Crafts and the Jan van Eyck Akademie in Maastricht, the Netherlands. His paintings are well-known in Iceland. The artist has also been involved in journalism and teaching.
From “Hinterland.”
Dagsson’s exhibition consists of photographs and promotional video and is a mixture of landscapes and make-believe. “By putting what is depicted in between brackets, the spectator’s perception and sensation become his or her focus,” a press release describes.
The ASÍ Art Museum is open daily except Mondays from 1 pm to 7 pm. Admission is free. For further information, visit the museum’s website.
