Two new carriers to fly to Iceland this summer

Over 44 thousand seats will be available weekly to and from Iceland on scheduled flights this summer, reports Morgunbladid. Two international carriers will commence flights this summer, British Airways will fly between Gatwick Airport in London to Keflavík, and SAS Braathens will fly from Oslo to Keflavík.

Icelandair offers, by far, the most seats, it will fly to 22 cities this summer, 140 times a week, offering almost 30,000 seats per week. Iceland Express will fly to 8 destinations thereby increasing its supply by 40%, offering a total of 13,000 seats a week.

BA and SAS Braathens will offer about 2,000 seats per week, making the total seats 44,000.

Seats on chartered flights are not accounted for in the 44,000 figure.
