A statement from the Reykjavík Metropolitan Police says that one of the men has been given a custody sentence until November 25 while the other is being questioned, reports.

A vehicle which the two men are believed to have been driving has been confiscated. It was found in the same neighborhood as the shooting took place. The police say they are also searching for other persons in relation with the investigation.

The two detainees are suspected of having shot at a vehicle with a sawed-off shotgun while there were people inside, Fréttablaðið reports.

The police was informed of gunshots shortly before 7:30 pm on Friday and the Special Forces of the National Commissioner of the Icelandic Police and all police officers on duty were sent to the scene.

There were three attackers, one of whom fired shots at the window of the aforementioned vehicle, presumably with the intention of hitting the driver. The driver escaped unharmed but the car suffered significant damages.

The police consider this incident very serious and believe it may be connected with payoff in drug trade.
