Two men were arrested on Thursday on suspicion of having sexually abused an eight-year-old boy, who is the son of one of the men. It will be decided after questioning today whether the custody sentence over the two men will be extended.

Björgvin Björgvinsson, senior office of the capital region police violent crime department, told Morgunbladid that the boy did not live with his father but that the father had the right to associate with his son.
“Child protection authorities grew suspicious and contacted us, requesting that we took action,” Björgvinsson explained regarding the course of events.
Computer documents belonging to the suspects were confiscated when they were arrested. Björgvinsson said it takes time to process such data and the men will remain in custody until the work is finished.
The boy is now staying with his mother and it is possible that their safety will be taken into account when the decision on a longer custody sentence is made.
According to Fréttabladid, the boy’s father has a criminal history; he has served a sentence for attacking the boy’s mother and her father.
