If everything goes according to plan, two Icelandic Christmas movies that are currently in the pipeline, will premiere in Icelandic cinemas before Christmas 2009. Directors Hilmar Oddsson and Árni Thór Jónsson plan to begin shooting in December of this year.
Jónsson’s movie will be a remake of his own horror short film Örstutt jól (English title: Unholy Night) featuring the terrifying Icelandic Santa Claus Meat Hook, Morgunbladid reports.
The other Christmas movie, by Oddsson, has the working title Hátíd í bae (“Celebration in Town”) and the screenplay will be written by Páll Kristinn Pálsson. The project is almost fully funded.
