The latest episode of popular British crime drama Shetland features two Icelandic actors among its cast, RÚV reports. Arnmundur Ernst Backman will play Norwegian police officer Lars Bleyman and Jóhann G. Jóhannsson, plays the Norwegian father of a right-wing extremist.
This isn’t Arnmundur’s first experience in a crime drama—in 2010, he had a role in the Icelandic series Hamarinn, or The Cliff—although for his current role, he’s called upon to put his linguistic skills to the test, and speaks in both English and Norwegian on screen.
Scandi Crime enthusiasts will also likely recognize Jóhann (sometimes credited as Jói) from 2017’s Fortitude. He also had a key role in the Icelandic crime drama Hraunið, or The Lava Fields, in 2014, and will appear in this year’s Finland-set The Arctic Circle.
