Two Icelanders and a Maltese citizen were rescued by a Belgian cargo ship around 400 nautical miles south of Hvarf in Greenland around 11 am this morning.

The passengers, who had been sailing a yacht from Canada to Iceland, sent out a distress call last night due to rough seas and winds of up to 30 meters a second, ruv.is reports.

A Canadian coast guard plane was called to the scene. The plane monitored the passengers on the yacht until the closest ship arrived and the passengers were transferred to safety.
