Two Fires in 30 Minutes

By Iceland Review

All available fire fighters were called out shortly after 3:30 pm today to put out a fire that had erupted in an office building in the Grandi area in Reykjavík, Vísir reports. The building is located on Hólmaslóð 4. The fire, which was on the second floor, has now been extinguished and there are no reports of injuries. The fire appears to have erupted in an artists’ studio, containing paint, turpentine and other flammable materials.

Shortly after arriving on the scene, the fire department received a call at 3:55 about another fire, this one in a row house on Lækjarsmári in Kópavogur. Part of the roof had to be ripped off to access the fire. The house is now being cleared of smoke.
