Two Convicts Escape from Litla-Hraun Prison

By Iceland Review

Two inmates of Iceland’s maximum security prison Litla-Hraun escaped yesterday. They had attended an AA meeting in a school building within the prison grounds, but didn’t return to the main prison building after the meeting finished.

After the prison guards had searched the grounds they were convinced that the detainees had fled the prison and notified the police in Selfoss, south Iceland, Fréttabladid reports.

Police in Selfoss and Reykjavík began searching for the escapees shortly before 10 pm last night and when Fréttabladid was sent to the press, they had still not been found.

Both men are in their 20s and have a long criminal history, but according to the police in Selfoss, they are not considered dangerous.
