Twins Open Knitwear Show at National Museum

Twin sisters Gunnhildur and Brynhildur Thórdardóttir open their exhibition “Prjónaheimur Lúka” (“Lúka’s World of Knitwear”) at the National Museum of Iceland today. The name is a reference to their company Lúka Art & Design.

The Thórdardóttir twins established their company in 2004. They design patters for products made of Icelandic wool for Glófi, one of the largest manufacturers of knit products in Iceland.

The patterns of the knitwear on display at the National Museum were inspired by licorice confection and licorice laces. The Lúka Art & Design products are also for sale in the museum’s store.

The sisters, who both have degrees in art and design from the UK, plan to take their exhibition abroad next spring on behalf of the Trade Council of Iceland.

The “Lúka’s World of Knitwear” exhibition in the National Museum runs through October 12.
