Female salespersons at the new television station iSTV walked out when the chairman of the board, Þorsteinn Steingrímsson, asked them to wear low-cut shirts, push-up bras, mini skirts and high heels when meeting with possible advertisers.
“I told them that either they were awful salespeople, or doing something wrong,” Þorsteinn told mbl.is. “You dress up and look nice for the customer … even wear short skirts. That’s what I said and I mean it.”
The television station has been in financial trouble lately. In September its office was closed and its 20 employees are now seeking their legal rights because of unpaid salaries.
