The Icelandic supergroup Trúbatrix, whose members are all Icelandic female musicians, will release a collection of their songs on an album entitled Taka 1 (“Take 1”) on June 2 and will then promote the release with a tour of the country.
The album contains 15 new songs by musicians such as Fabúla, Elíza Geirsdóttir Newman, Thórunn Antónía, Miss Mount, Elín Ey, Jara, Mysterious Marta and the girl band Pascal Pinon.
The album was produced in Iceland and record label Smekkleysa will assist in distributing the album. The idea is for more albums to follow, to represent other Icelandic female artists.
Trúbatrix will launch their Icelandic tour with a concert at Café Rosenberg in the capital on June 2 and then they will travel around the country. Their hope is to discover some new and promising musicians along the way.
The concert program is as follows:
June 2: Café Rósenberg, Reykjavík
June 3: Kaffi 59, Grundarfjördur
June 4: Graeni Hatturinn, Akureyri
June 5: Kaffi Saeli, Tálknafjördur
