Travel Warning: Roads Impassable in West and North Iceland

Roads are widely impassable in the West Fjords as well as in parts of North and East Iceland after heavy snowfall. Electricity is also being rationed in the northern part of the West Fjords after a blizzard damaged electricity poles yesterday, Bæjarins Besta reports.

Bad weather is also forecast for parts of North and West Iceland today with winds of more than 20 m/s. The Met Office has issued a storm warning until tomorrow afternoon from Kjalarnes, just north of Reykjavík, to Lómagnúpur near Skaftafell in Southeast Iceland, 300 km (200 miles) east of the capital area.
