Trade Union Offers Free Activities to the Unemployed

The Commercial Workers’ Union (VR), which has more than 20,000 members from different professions, invites its unemployed members to participate in free activities with their families this summer.

“We are focusing on the families during the summer. Children must be able to have an entertaining summer even though mom and/or dad are out of a job,” explained project manager Jóhanna Elísabet Vilhelmsdóttir to icelandreview.com.

The free activities on offer include fishing (the fishing pass is valid for 31 lakes), camping (the camping pass is valid for more than 30 camping areas), play classes, summer camps with the Icelandic YMCA and YWCA, weekly horse trips with Íshestar and a number of courses in the Role Center, located at Laugavegur 29 in Reykjavík.
