Tourists Up by Thirteen Percent in August, Majority from Germany

The number of tourists visiting Iceland this year continues to rise with a 13.2 percent year-over-year increase in August.

Germans made up the largest group of visitors last month, or 14.4 percent. Tourists from the United States and France follow, with 13.7 and 10.6 percent respectively, visir.is reports.

So far this year, 472,285 tourists have visited the country, an increase of 65,801, or 16.2 percent, according to the latest figures from the Icelandic Tourist Board.

According to Statistics Iceland, most tourists to visit Iceland in 2012 have been from Great Britain.
