Warning signs and hindrances on Dyrhólaey, South Iceland, appear to be disregarded by many tourists, according to mbl.is. Henry Páll Wulff, head of Arctic Adventures’ marketing department, captured a pictured of tourists on Sunday who had ignored warnings in order to take pictures.
“The signs are clear and an area has been fenced off to prevent people from entering. But people simply ignore the signs and don’t listen to warnings. Nothing appears to prevent them from getting the right picture.”
Henry claims the same problem persists elsewhere in South Iceland. “The new signs on Reynisfjara [beach], for example, appear to be ignored, and the same is true for Gullfoss [waterfall] and Jökulsárlón [glacial lagoon].”
Henry Páll states that Arctic Adventures explains the danger to its passengers and that those warnings are well received. What frustrates him is when he warns those who are not part of his group not to go past the fences and they completely ignore him.
