Tourist Mugged in Reykjavík

Capital region police are looking for a group of people who mugged a tourist in Reykjavík last night.

It is reported that a group of five men attacked a tourist in Reykjavík city center yesterday evening, threatening him with some sort of weapon, the statement says.

While very few details have yet been made public, it is known that the attackers escaped with the man’s credit card and his PIN. The victim is not believed to have been hurt in the attack, only shaken up.

In separate news, many people in central Reykjavík complained of disturbed sleep last night due to a ship’s horn sounding, which turned out to be caused by a fault in the ship’s alarm system.

Update at 18.07: According to the Reykjavík Police there was no truth to the story of a tourist being mugged in Central Reykjavík.
