A British man will appear in court in Iceland accused of attempted murder.
The British man, in his thirties, has been charged with attempted murder at the Stay Apartments guesthouse on Brautarholt in Reykjavík.
The man is said to have attacked a thirty-year-old woman, also British, in February this year. He cut the victim on the neck, stuck the point of his knife into her face and tried to strangle her, RÚV reports.
The woman suffered an incision on the neck and injuries to her face. She is calling for the man to be forced to pay ISK one million in damages (USD 8,910/EUR 6,430), as well as compensating her for expenses in needing to return early to the UK after the attack, rehabilitation costs and compensation for personal suffering.
The total amount claimed has not yet been made public, and the details above come from pre-trial court notes from the State Prosecutor. The amount includes claims for costs which still need to be supported with invoice evidence before the trial.
The case will be filed before the Reykjavík District Court this Friday.
