The police in Reykjanesbær received a call over the weekend about a rental car which was parked in the middle of a private road 10 km (6 miles) from Keflavík International Airport.

The driver of the car had run the rental car into a chain used to close the private road to Lake Seltjörn, half way between the airport and Bláa lónið, the Blue Lagoon.
The car was completely destroyed and the tourist who had rented the car had taken the first flight out of the country, dv.is reports.
This is the second such incident in a short period of time.
