Tom Cruise: Iceland Cured Divorce Blues

Tom Cruise stated in an interview with German television channel Pro7 that Iceland and Icelandic nature had helped him get over the divorce with Katie Holmes. He spent his time in the country snowmobiling, hiking and river rafting.

Cruise was filming Oblivion in Iceland last summer and his 50th birthday was coming up when Holmes told him that she wanted to split after five years of marriage.

Cruise had refused to discuss the breakup in the media until Pro7 asked him about it when he was promoting the movie in Vienna recently, reports.

Cruise said Katie’s decision had taken him by surprise. “Life is a challenge. You are 50 and you think you have everything in order,” the actor is quoted on

However, his sense of humor helped him tackle the shock, he added, as well as working and traveling in Iceland. “I have done white water rafting, I dipped, with the snowmobile on the glaciers, drove around and climbed mountains.”

The sci-fi movie Oblivion, also starring Olga Kurylenko and Morgan Freeman, is set to open across America on April 19.
