Today’s Two Polls Show Similar Trends

With a parliamentary election only three days away, a new MMR poll shows the same parties in the top five spots as does another poll published today, conducted for Fréttablaðið, Stöð 2 and Vísir.

The MMR poll, conducted October 19-26, shows the Independence Party enjoying 21.9 percent support, followed by the Pirate Party, with 19.1 percent. In third place is the Left-Green Movement with 16 percent support­; fourth is the Progressive Party, with 10 percent, and fifth is the Reform Party with 9.3 percent. Bright Future comes next, with 8.8 percent support, followed by the Social Democratic Alliance, with 7.6 percent. The People’s Party receives 3.4 percent and all others less than 2 percent.

Support for the government, a coalition of Progressives and Independents, is 33.3 percent.

The number of participants in the study was 981, all individuals 18 and older. Of those, 86.5 percent answered what party they planned to vote for, while 4.5 percent said they were undecided, 4.9 percent planned to turn in a blank ballot, 1.6 percent did not plan to vote, and 2.4 percent would not reveal their choice.
