Today is Easter Monday

Today is the fifth and final day of the long Easter weekend off work and most people use today for relaxation and recreation.

It is a popular day for sports, especially skiing when weather permits, but it is also used extensively for the consumption of yet more chocolate Easter egg and leftovers from yesterday.

Easter Monday is called Annar í Páskum in Icelandic, which means ‘the Second of Easter’.

Tomorrow will be a normal workday, but Icelanders don’t have long to wait until the next public holiday and day off: the official first day of summer will be celebrated this Thursday.
