Time-Lapse Holuhraun Eruption: ‘2 Months in 2.5 Minutes’

A time-lapse video of the development of the Holuhraun eruption in October and November last year: ‘2 Months in 2.5 Minutes’ has been posted on the Facebook page of the National Commissioner of the Icelandic Police’s Civil Protection Department.

Screenshots from the webcam at Vaðalda were taken every ten minutes and put together in video played at eight times the usual speed.

The eruption, fed by the volcano Bárðarbunga under Vatnajökull glacier, started on August 29, 2014, and is still ongoing.
