Three in Travel Ban for Alleged Murder

Three men were sentenced to a travel ban, i.e. are barred from leaving the country, in Reykjavík District Court yesterday due to suspicion of having contributed to the death of a man who died following head trauma on Friday.

The man was taken to the National Hospital after a fall outside a building a Frakkastígur in central Reykjavík on June 8, Morgunbladid reports.

One of the three men who were sentenced to travel ban yesterday has been in custody since the incident, but the custody sentence expired yesterday.

Sigurbjörn Vídir Eggertsson, director of the violent and special crime department of the Capital Region Police, said the three men are suspected of negligent homicide.

The medical examiner concluded that a fall from a standing position caused the injuries which later caused the victim’s death.
