Three men in their thirties were arrested Monday, suspected of having held a woman against her will and sexually abused her in a home in the east part of Reykjavík last weekend, Fréttablaðið reports.
The woman, who is in her forties, reported the rape to police on Monday. After filing charges, she was taken to an emergency reception for victims of sexual abuse at Landspítali National University Hospital. The three men were arrested that day and Tuesday night, the Reykjavík District Court ruled that they should be in police custody for a week.
The men’s lawyers have appealed that decision to the Supreme Court, which is expected rule on that today.
