Björgvin Björgvinsson, senior officer of the Capital Region Police’s sex crime department, told Morgunbladid that in the former case a woman filed charges against two men for having raped her in a private home in the eastern part of Reykjavík.

The woman described how they forced her into having intercourse with them with violence and threats. They were arrested the same day and taken into custody.

In the other case a woman filed charges against her former partner for raping her in his home in the capital region. She claimed that he had asked her to bring him a sports bag and later attacked and raped her.

All three men appealed the custody verdict to the Supreme Court which confirmed it yesterday.

Björgvinsson would not comment further on these cases while the investigation is ongoing, other than saying witnesses, victims and others are being questioned.
