Managing director of the Icelandic Travel Industry Association (SAF), Erna Hauksdóttir, told visir.is that the number of visitors during Christmas is similar as in past years but there is an increase in visitors over New Year’s.
Hauksdóttir added that more and more tourists book their holidays with short notice and so she expects the number of foreign visitors in Iceland over the Christmas season to increase further.
The travelers who are spending their holidays in Iceland come from many different countries but the largest groups come from the UK, the Nordic countries, Japan, Germany and the US.
