Approximately 2,500 people went skiing in the capital region ski resort at Mt. Bláfjöll in prime conditions yesterday: the weather was clear and sunny and the temperature -2.5°C (-27.5°F). At 1 pm Rev. Pálmi Matthíasson performed the annual Easter mass.

“It was without a doubt one of the most beautiful days in Bláfjöll this winter,” Magnús Árnason, managing director of the capital region ski resorts, told Morgunblaðið.
The slopes at Bláfjöll have been open for 60 days this winter, 15 more than the season average. So far 46,000 skiers have visited the resort; the record is 85,000 in one winter.
The goal is for the resort to remain open throughout April or even longer, weather permitting, and provided skiers continue to crowd the slopes.
