Other media outlets, such as and, report that “many thousands” attended the event.

The band, which has been touring overseas recently, commented that it was strange to speak Icelandic again on stage.

The group’s debut album, My Head Is An Animal, has sold almost 200,000 copies in the United States, and the band is fully booked until the autumn.

The album went straight to sixth place on the US Billboard list, the best achievement for an Icelandic artist or group to date.

The concert is the band’s only performance in Iceland this summer as they continue their world tour.

The band leave for the UK next week, before heading to Australia and then back to the United States.
