Icelandic Insurance company VÍS has created a Facebook page for personal items that were salvaged from the Garðabær storage facility where a massive fire broke out earlier this month, mbl.is reports. The entire Reykjavík fire department was called out to fight the blaze, which started a large building housing an Icewear clothing store, storage units, and offices.
“In recent days we’ve been working hard to save valuables from the charred ruins…” VÍS posted on their Facebook album. “We sent a 12-man team to sort through the wreckage in the hopes of finding anything that was relatively undamaged that could be returned to its owners. As most people know, the fire caused a great deal of damage, but nevertheless, we managed to salvage a few things. Now we need your help to find the owners.”
Items recovered by the salvage team include personal photographs and photo albums, home videos, VHS tapes, recipe collections, children’s schoolwork, dolls, and more. You can see the full album here. If you or someone you know owns any of the items pictured, you can contact VÍS directly at [email protected].
