The sound of a very loud bang was reported to the police at around 4:45 am this morning. When the police arrived to the scene, they discovered that a bomb had been taped to the window of a jewelry store, visir.is and mbl.is report.

Bomb fragments were discovered as far as 30 meters from the scene. The window, which is made of double safety glass covered with a plastic film between layers, was heavily cracked and damaged on the edges but was not broken all the way through. The robbers therefore left the scene empty handed and escaped before the police arrived. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” />
Two men were caught on the security camera recording. One is dressed in dark clothing but the other one is wearing a red thick jacket with white sleeves and a hood. The police requests information from witnesses who may have spotted someone who fits the above descriptions in downtown Reykjavík early this morning.
