Thief Kicks Pregnant Woman in the Belly

The pregnant clerk of the jewelry store Jón Sigmundsson in Reykjavík was threatened with a syringe and then kicked in the stomach when she tried to prevent a young man from stealing a watch worth almost ISK 400,000 (USD 3,200, EUR 2,200) on Wednesday.

An ambulance was called and the woman was taken to the hospital but it appears that neither she nor the baby she is carrying suffered any injuries, reports.

Police reacted quickly and the thief was caught shortly after the robbery. Ingólfur Már Ingólfsson, duty officer at the Vesturbaer police station said jewelry stores on Laugavegur are usually equipped with security cameras to assist with situations like these.
