The master chef, David Varley from San Francisco, USA, is the winner of this year’s Food & Fun festival. Varley worked at the restaurant Grillmarkaðurinn (“The Grill Market”). Right on his tail, in second place, was Jakob Mielcke from Denmark at restaurant Vox, and the Italian genius Giulio Terrinoni from restaurant Við Tjörnina (“At the Pond”) came in third, reports.

David Varley is the head chef at Mina Group, USA, which owns and runs 19 gourmet restaurants in many of America’s largest cities. Formerly, he was the head chef at Bourbon Steak, Washington DC, which was one of the best restaurants in the US in 2010, according to Forbes magazine.

Varley was well trained in recognising and working with quality ingrediants. He was happy to get to know Icelandic raw materials and is determined to return to Iceland soon to get more acquainted with Icelandic cuisine.
