The Golden Circle Accessible Five Days A Week

Many tourists spend the holiday season in Iceland discovering the winter beauty of the country. The most popular excursion out of Reykjavík is the Golden Circle route, visiting Geysir and the waterfall Gullfoss.

But part of the route, if you are making a full circle, is open only five days a week.

The roads over Mosfellsheiði on to Þingvellir National Park and Lyngdalsheiði from Þingvellir to Lake Laugarvatn are not cleared on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Tourists have run into difficulties along this route in December due to heavy snowfall, especially yesterday, according to the Icelandic Road Administration.
