The Fly flies to France

The Forlagið publication announced that the Bayard Jeunesse, the second largest children’s book publication in France, had purchased the right to publish a children’s book by Bryndís Björgvinsdóttir, an Icelandic folklorist, researcher and teaching professional by trade.

Her book Flugan sem Stöðvaði Stríðið or “The fly who stopped the war” will be released early in 2015 and plans to distribute it in French-speaking regions. The story tells the tale of three ordinary houseflies who start an unusual sequence of events when the leave their home and put an end to a war.

The book was published by Forlagið publication in 2011.

The book received the Icelandic Children’s Book Award in 2011 and was among nominees nominated for the Fjöruverðlaun, a literature award for women authors.
