The whaling boat Njörður KÓ hunted its first minke last night and is on its way back to harbor. The minke was a 7.4 meters long male and was caught in Northern Faxaflói bay.
The minke will be on shore later today and whale meat is expected to be in Icelandic stores before the weekend, mbl.is reports
According to the whalers on Njörður KÓ, there are lots of minkes on Faxaflói bay. Two other whale boats will begin hunting minkes in the next week.
