Last year there were 519 burglaries in homes in the Reykjavík area, according to new statistics from the capital area police. Car break-ins numbered 375 and break-ins at businesses totaled 295 for the same period.

The statistics for speeding are lower than in January 2010 when 3,076 tickets were issued, but higher than the 1,422 in January 2011 with 1,799 speeding tickets being issued in the first month of this year.
