Minister of Fisheries Jón Bjarnason attended the opening and approximately 12,000 visitors are expected. Around 500 companies, both domestic and foreign, will display the latest technology in commercial fishing during the exhibition, a press release states.

Icefish covers every aspect of the commercial fishing industry from catching and locating to processing and packaging, right through to marketing and distribution of the final product, as stated on icefish.is.

With a fleet of 1,582 registered fishing vessels landing 1,125 million tons of fish every year, the Icelandic fleet represents state of the art of fisheries technology. This hub of fishing technology means there is always something new on offer.
