More than 10,000 people have signed a petition urging the Icelandic government to reverse recently announced planned budget cuts to the National Broadcasting Corporation RÚV.

The petition, which was launched six days ago, was presented to the Minister of Culture and Education, Illugi Gunnarsson, today, visir.is reports.
Last month, it was announced that 60 people will lose their jobs at RÚV.
RÚV was established in 1930 and was the first radio station in Iceland. The broadcaster then moved into television in 1966 and held a monopoly there for 20 years.
